Activities

Choose from activities from our program content areas, whether that’s getting crafty, sharpening your scout skills, or learning about the natural world.

The program includes both fun projects and activities as well as opportunities to work on Cub Scout Adventures.

Archery

Archery is offered at all of our day camps. Shoot arrows with our compound bows for maximum accuracy and target hitting power. Learn how to properly shoot and stay safe at the range while having lots of fun.

BBs

Shooting sports is a staple of all good summer camps. Have mountains of fun shooting at the BB gun range while learning proper range etiquette and gun safety.

The Pool

Summer days are long and hot! It is great to cool down at the Pool, play on the waterslides, and hang out with each other during water sports.

Boating

Explore our amazing lake. Its surface and shoreline are filled with lily pads and other wildlife. We have canoes and paddle boats for your sunny day boating adventures.

The Big Dig

Digging for treasure is something we rarely, if ever, get to do. At the Big Dig you get to do just that! What will you find?

The Ship

Learn about signal flags and how to the sailors of old used to communicate. What is a ship, even if it is on land, without water? Come enjoy water games at our ship.

Field Games

Obstacle courses, Soccer, tag, Gaga Ball, and so much more happen in our field games area. Your imagination is the only limiting thing when you visit Field games.

Handicraft

Arts, crafts, leather working galore are waiting for you at handicrafts. We teach you how to make things daily and you get to take your new crafts and knowledge home to show everyone what you learned.

Nature

Learn what animals Camp Snyder has to offer and how they live. Study “footprints” and learn how to be like the animals and Leave No Trace.

Meet your Directors

Camp Director Kevin Rock (back) & Program Director Mohammad Qadri (front)

Kevin is going on his 10th year on staff at Snyder. He started when the camp opened in 2006 and stayed until 2011 where he held various positions around the property (from Camp Clerk to Camp Photographer, and from Camp Medical Officer to Camp Business Manager). He returned in 2018 as the Summer Camp Director. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1995 and was bestowed the OA Vigil honor in 2008. He has earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Longwood University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Scouting where he continues to teach every year.  Outside the summer months he is an elementary school librarian for PWC public schools.

Mohammad has been coming to Snyder since he joined Scouting and has been working at the camp since 2016. He’s worked all over the camp from the Kitchen staff, to shooting sports and, for the past two years, the program director. Mohammad is an Eagle Scout and loves working with scouts of all ages and looks forward to staying safe and making a great program this summer.
